"Dorothy Parker" is an American poet. Her poems are usually simple, musical and contain diverse, critical and morphing contents. I stumbled upon one of her beautiful poems "One Perfect Rose". It contains three stanza and if you read all of them seperately, then each one of them gives a miles-apart-view. In the first two stanzas the reader feels that its some a romantic rambling of the poetess, but the third and the last stanza completely negates this aspect. I recorded its narration below. Do check it out, hope you would like it.
A single flow'r he sent me, since we met.
All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet--
One perfect rose.
I knew the language of the floweret;
"My fragile leaves," it said, "his heart enclose."
Love long has taken for his amulet
One perfect rose.
Why is it no one ever sent me yet
One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get
One perfect rose.
All tenderly his messenger he chose;
Deep-hearted, pure, with scented dew still wet--
One perfect rose.
I knew the language of the floweret;
"My fragile leaves," it said, "his heart enclose."
Love long has taken for his amulet
One perfect rose.
Why is it no one ever sent me yet
One perfect limousine, do you suppose?
Ah no, it's always just my luck to get
One perfect rose.

that was a good twist :)
i am in love with ' a dream lies dead'
A dream lies dead here. May you softly go
Before this place, and turn away your eyes,
Nor seek to know the look of that which dies
Importuning Life for life. Walk not in woe,
But, for a little, let your step be slow.
And, of your mercy, be not sweetly wise
With words of hope and Spring and tenderer skies.
A dream lies dead; and this all mourners know.....
i strongly agree, her poems are magically musical!!
the good thing about a stimulating poetry is that it mends itself according to its reader
good find
Nice sharing,reminded me Julia Roberts romantic movie "Pretty Woman" (1990)!

Hi there, Afaque.
Finally, I've made it to have a look at your blog and what an interesting blog it is too. I love it!!!!!
Such interesting stuff you write about. As for poems, I've always been rather fond of Sylvia Plath - 'Mirror' being my fave.
visit my blog www.feastforreaders.blogspot.com and read THRILLER FUN NOVEL 'TASTE ME' chapterwise

beautiful Afaque .I am glad I came by your blog today .here is one for you .
The Mystery Ralph Hodegson
HE came and took me by the hand
Up to a red rose tree,
He kept His meaning to Himself
But gave a rose to me.
I did not pray Him to lay bare
The mystery to me,
Enough the rose was Heaven to smell,
And His own face to see.
Call me THICK but I would like a limo, even non-perfect anyday over a PERFECT ROSE...:D
